CO-CURRICULAR OVERVIEW
We appreciate that children have an amazing capacity to learn life skills and develop character in a multitude of different ways. We love to see them seizing opportunities and finding and following their passions throughout all aspects of a school day.
The ever-growing and extensive list of co-curricular activities include:
Multi-sports, ballet, outdoor learning, Forest School, choir, music ensembles, LAMDA drama tuition, chess club, philosophy, cookery, backgammon, journalistic writing, Conifers Award, dance, musical theatre, judo, ballet, horse riding, debating and many additional sports clubs including gymnastics, rugby, football, tennis, rounders, cricket, netball, hockey and ultimate frisbee.
Outdoor Learning
At Conifers we have a unique outdoor learning programme. All pupils enjoy an afternoon each week working outdoors on a variety of different initiatives. We have class allotments for pupils to work on together, preparing the planting beds, learning about seasonal crops, then growing and harvesting produce under the experienced guidance of Farmer Paul. In addition, each term, pupils benefit from visiting farm animals in the Upper Paddock, enabling them to experience caring for livestock.
The school is also currently in the final planning stages of a pond construction which will add further breadth and depth to our outdoor learning offering. We believe that by working in the great outdoors, growing their own food and understanding more about nature and agriculture first-hand, pupils are one step closer to growing up with healthy and responsible attitudes to the environment, diet and food ecosystems.
