HISTORY

A brief history of Conifers School

Conifers currently educates almost a hundred children but in the early part of the last century it was Easebourne, Midhurst and District Cottage Hospital.

In the early part of the last century Conifers School was Easebourne, Midhurst & District Cottage Hospital. Conifers was brought into existence as a school in 1934 by Miss Barbara Gayford and her sister Joyce who together ran it for 25 years.

In 1959 it was taken over by Mrs Sproule who added extensions to accommodate the growing number of pupils. However, the building itself is unchanged and from the road looks very much as it did when it was the Cottage Hospital.
