Admissions to Independent (Private) Schools

All private schools are required to have an admissions policy that provides parents with details about how they can apply to have their child attend the school, what they should expect when it comes to the school admissions process and information on how complaints are handled.

Independent schools can decide their own admissions policies, and many schools use selective criteria, such as academic ability, special skills, financial considerations, date of application, and other links such as having a sibling or other connection at the school. Our admissions process is published here.

At Conifers, the admissions process typically starts with an appointment to visit us so that you can tour the school, observe some lessons, and meet the teachers. Afterwards, we will then invite your child to attend a couple of taster days within their year group and to further experience the school first-hand. This is usually followed up by an invitation for your child to sit an informal assessment.
