ADMISSION PROCESS
Like all independent schools, Conifers is required to have an admissions policy that lays out the admissions process that parents can expect when it comes to applying for their child to join. To help parents interested in registering their child with us, we have outlined our school’s admissions process for Conifers below.

1. Make an appointment to visit us
Either call the admissions team on 01730 813 243 or e-mail us at admissions@conifersschool.com.
We always recommend an individual tour for your first visit. This will provide time to meet staff and pupils, observe the Nursery and Pre-School, see lessons in action, view our school and its grounds and meet the Head, Miss Emma Fownes, for a cup of tea.
2. Taster Days
Following your visit your child will be invited to spend two taster days with their current year group. We ask incoming pupils to sit an informal assessment to enable us to best support and stretch your child once they arrive, as well as ensuring that they are able to access our curriculum. Following your taster days, parents will be invited in for a feedback meeting.
3. Register with us
Once you have decided that Conifers is the school for you, we request that you complete and return the Registration Form along with the non-refundable Registration Fee of £100.
On acceptance of a place at Conifers, you will need to pay a Deposit of £500. This will secure your child’s place at the school. If your child is joining Nursery or Pre School, then we will not request an initial Deposit at the time of joining. Once your children enters Reception class then a refundable Deposit of £500 will be due.
4. Joining Pack
This pack will be either emailed to you or printed for your collection. It contains everything you will need for your child’s start at Conifers including consent forms, medical forms and parents’ handbook.
5. Uniform
A private appointment at school will be made for you to visit the well-stocked on-site shop which holds both new and second-hand uniforms.
There is no standard model for applying to a private school or prep school in the UK. However, most private schools will include at least an Open Day visit, formal registration, and either testing and/or a taster day as part of their admissions process. The admissions process is an important part of the application process when putting your child forward for entry to independent and prep schools. This is because it gives families and schools the opportunity to get to know each other and to decide whether they are a good fit for each other. Although it is often possible to register interest in your child attending at any time, most parents start the school’s admission process at least a full year in advance.
