PREP SCHOOL (Y3 to 8)
Pupils entering Year 3 at Conifers, whether coming up from Pre-Prep or joining us from a different school, will sit some informal assessments covering English and maths. This helps us to ensure pupils hit the ground running by understanding as much as possible about them before they join us in the Prep school. For new pupils joining us, this also enables our teachers to tailor a great learning experience for your child, in particular those that require extra advancement and additional challenges in their academic learning.
Our aim is for all Conifers’ pupils to surpass their individual academic expectations during their time with us, culminating in successful senior school entry. 100% of our current leavers in 2021 have been offered places at their first choice of senior school; this is a regular achievement for Conifers pupils and demonstrates the success of small classes and a great understanding of each pupil, and of course we are delighted that senior schools recognise a Conifers education as a stamp of quality.
Class sizes across the Prep school are small. Subject specialist teaching is extensive in Year 3 and expands across all subjects in Years 4 and above. Prep pupils build on their core subject knowledge with a wide range of academic opportunities such as in Mandarin, art, music, DT, ICT and outdoor learning. All pupils continue to be offered a broad range of co-curricular activities and we encourage as much participation as possible. Regular sporting fixtures provide the balance that is so important to growing children.
The Prep experience at Conifers includes increased responsibilities around the school and in school events such as carol services, concerts, dramatic productions and charitable activities. Conifers Prep is a very happy place and continues to produce extremely happy, well rounded, grounded and responsible young adults who can confidently move on the next stage of their lives when they leave us.
